Reyerson and Jean Rmgoen were added to the seventh grade roll We all remember the mlsslng hbrary book especlally Bev On Aprll Fools Day several of us g1rls played a Joke on Mlss Mellem by commg to school late Much to our dlsmay we lso remaxned late Robert Weaver and Leann Our grade school days ended wrth elghth grade Shallxa Tonga and Shxrley Ostler were new stu dents Sue Osten won the DAR medal for the best essay Carol and Karen were runners up Thls year bemg an electlon year much tlme was spent on polxtlcs M1ss Tosdal let us hold our own electlon wlth ballots and booths Many ballots were SDOIIEG because of wrlte 1ns for Pogo We entered our freshman year mlnus Donald Larson Mary Orman Sharon Judas Donna Mon nahan and Shallla Tonga but plus Robert Abrams LaVerne Anderson Betty boys partlclpated 1n the Champxon football and basketball teams Cormne Stene was our Homecoming Queen Can:11date and our float Foamlng to Vlctory won fxrst place Our Class play Grandpa Steps Out was saxd to be one of the best Corxnne Stene and Harl1n S1me recelved I rat1ngs at State for the1r vocal solos and Anne Baken and Sue Osten recelved Is on thelr ln strumental solos Berny Foss and Robert Abrams were members of the Parllamentary Procedure team that went to State Carol Hendrlckson won an award to Music Camp Our Prom Cherryblossom Tlme had a Japan ese motlf wh1ch was carrxed out by the wa1tresses program and decorat1ons After the banquet a dance was held at the country club a mldmght movle was shown and a breakfast was served Due to the re organlzatlon of schools ln Free born county we lost Betty Broltzman Charles Buchanan Sharyl Buchanan and Glorxa Wolff but we gamed a new student Maurlce Fralzer Delores Helm Charles Hagerud and Darrell Low also left Our basketball team advanced to Dxstrlct agalnst Mason C1ty Mohawks Jean Rmgoen was our Homecommg Queen Candldate and Jerx y Brunsvold was crowned Kmg Our float You Amt Noth1ng But A Hounddog won flrst place The class play Mmx from MISSOUTI was a b1g success Gary Rapp Oratlon and Sue Osten Humorous went to State Speech Contest at Grm nell Gary Rapp also went to the State Wrestllng Meet Skxp Day was spent ln Mrnneapolxs slghtseelng tours m the mormng Cmerama 1n the afternoon and Ice Follles 1n the evenmg Baccalaureate and Commencement were two other hlgh polnts Our class motto was When we buxld Lets build forever' our colors were blue and silver and our flower was the pmk carnatlon These are only a few of the memorxes we hold dear We have lost many students and galned many but stlll seventeen of the or1g1nal
