Fifth grade brought us closer to Junxor lugh actxvltxes, and many Jomed the band Darryl Imme left and Jo Ann Gulhckson Ann Sandberg and La Verne Hague Jorned us Mxss Nagel was taken sxck wxth polxo so Mrs Doug Pangbum substxtuted for her In sxxth grade we staged the opera HMS Pmafore' 111 which most of us were sa1lors rn the Kmgs Navy Dorothy Holtan got poho and wasnt wxth us very much We vlslted her many tunes whxle she was convalescm-g and were very happy when she could come back to class Eldon Olson moved away but Marlyn Loken Daryl Jones Vernon Abrahams and Donna Brannd became a part of our growmg claw ln sex ennh grade we were ofhcxally 1n Juruor hlgh All took part rn a torrent of actlvltxes-basketball baseball etc We bld fond farewells to Jo Anna and Nancy wxho both departed from our ranks wxth many tears Pemzanent addxtxons were a set of twlns-Vlola and Vlolet Gentz and Elame Mxelke Th1s was the year when exghbh graders had great appeal and the shdmg desk tops served as convenxent mallboxes Pat McQuatters won the DAR award for the best essay 1n hlstory Exghth grade was our last year ln grade school We fevenshly began our preparations for hlgh school thls year We took turns on hbrary duty and even found tune to wnte our own newspaper prmted by hand Dorothy Iverson became one of us thxs year Our basketball team was very good too Our elghth grade unportance vas rapldly reduced when we reached high school Nmth grade' and our 1n1t1at1on 1nto hrgh school actlvltxes and detentxon Permanent members of the class Barbara Bergo S'h1rley Butler Paul Foss Kenneth Johnson Ruth Whxtcome, Wayne Moretz, and Don Handeland were qulckly broken mto the lugh school routxne xn Mrs Lees algebra class We wlll never forget Mlss Sellecks tests of Miss Mlclulkes English class Kenneth Johnson won honors ln contest for hrs mterpretatxon of the FFA Creed Barbara Bergo was our candldate for Homecofmmg queen One of our classmates met wlth an untunely death 1n an automoblle accxdent the class was bereaved at the death of Charles Packard Jo Ann Gulhckson mover to Denver and Brue Lee Jour neyed up mto northern Mmnesota The basketball team won second place xn the county toumaments Our sophomore year began wlth a new adm1mstrat1on Mr Hag man became the prmclpal We w1ll remember Mr Bestuls world hrstory class and Mr Koehler s bxology term papers Thxs was the year we consxdered ourselves Bxg Wheels though no one else upheld that theory Thxs year the basketball team slxpped to thxrd place 111 county tournaments Jo Ann returned from Denver and Barbara Stanek and Jerry Glaser Jomed our class Lxttle Leo De Marxs was the l1fe of the study hall Jean Johnson was our Home commg queen candldate One clxmax of our hrgh school career was our Jumor year Bruce Lee eturned and Roy Belghley Jomed us Marlyn Loken was queen candldate and our float Staging a Vlctory' won fxrst prrze The class play was a blg success- Dont Take My Penny Jean went to State wlth her dramatlc readmg We wxll remember class meet mgs and fa1r stand and Mr Webers chenustry class wlth of course all the odors We adopted Hxtch Your Wagon to a Star as our banquet and prom theme Because ll was Brlday the 13th we went to the nud mght movxe Murders of the Rue Morgue At 4 00 am some of our mothers served a complete breakfast wvluch was donated by the local merchants At the begmmng of our semor year Jean Johnson became ed1tor of the V1k1.ng Ruth Rabe was appomted edrtor rn cluef of the Annual. Tlus year the football team was Conference Champ The basketball teams had a record mark they too won the coveted flrst place 1n Conference play as well as the county trophy North wood advanced 1nto tzhe sectlonals agamst Lake Mxlls Ann Sand berg was our HOH16C0m1Dg Queen New members of the class were Denms Newberry and Vemon Holstad Skxp Day was spent ln Mmneapolxs for slghtseemg tours and the Ice Follles Beccalaurea e and Commencement were other hlgh pomts ln our wanlng hlgh school days We have many tlungs to remember Music contests speech work, the many teachers we had and the f1ne classmates and friends we made 1n our class We have come to the end of our hxgh school days Forty four students remaxn ln the class We have galned many students and frxends but only flfteen of the orxgmal twenty elght remamed through the years Durmg our h1gh school years we have lost many they have started out 1n lrfe early now the rest of us are ready to pursue our worldly careers We have completed many courses of study partxcxpated m many 8Ct1V1tl8S and yet we have leamed mucl' We have grown up and graduated' Worth County Abstract Company L.
