■ TALON 1974 NORTHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL Shreveport, Louisiana Joyce Green, Co-Editor Jeff McKinnon, Co-Editor Robby Senn, Assistant Editor Ann Houchin, Advisor WE PAUSE AMID THE WONDERS AND BEAUTY OF LIFE AND THE MAGIC OF SCIENCE TO RECALL THESE GOLDEN lOMENTS OF TIME. ALTHOUGH THE EVENTS ARE NOW PAST HISTORY, THEY WILL BECOME A PART OF THE IEMORJES OP NORTHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL. IT IS OUR WISH TO WALK AGAIN THE PATHS OF ACHIEVEMENT, ENJOYMENT,- BEAUTY, AND SKILL. WE, THE lORTHWOOD TALON STAFF, SET THEM BEFORE YOU. COME, GO WITH US! TO EVERY THING THERE IS A SEASON, AND A TIME TO EVERY PURPOSE UNDER THE HEA VEN . . . 2 3 FORTH THE OLD. IT IS ALSO A TIME TO MOLD THE BE- PAST BY THE PEOPIE INVOLVED IN IT AND THE EVER CHANGING WORLD AROUND THEM. A TIME FOR HAPPINESS 6 I HAPPINESS, A WIDESPREAD FEELING HERE AT NORTH- WOOD, IS EXPRESSED IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS BY EVERYONE. IT IS SEEN, FELT, AND HEARD EVERYDAY. IT IS SHOWN BY A SMILE OR A TEAR, HEARD IN LAUGH¬ TER, AND FELT IN THE WARMTH OF RELATIONSHIPS. TIME FOR UNITY EACH OF US IS AN OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL IN HIS OWN BEING, YET WE ARE A PART OF ONE ANOTHER. WE ARE UNITED IN OUR MUTUAL STRIVINGS TO BECOME BETTER PER¬ SONS TOMORROW THAN WE ARE TODAY. WE ARE BOUND TOGETHER AS ONE THROUGH THE UNDER¬ STANDING AND FRIENDSHIP WE FEEL FOR EACH OTHER. A TIME FOR SPIRIT WE HERE AT NORTHWOOD EXPRESS OUR SPIRIT IN MANY WAYS. OUR COMMON ENTHUSIASM FOR ALL OF NORTHWOOD S EXPERIENCES UNITES US. 11 A TIME FOR VICTOR V . . . 12 FOR DEFEAT VICTORY, NO MATTER HOW IT IS ACHIEVED, WHETHER FROM WINNING A GAME OR AN ELECTION OR BY SIMPLY PASSING A TEST, IS WELCOMED BY US ALL, FOR IT BRINGS JOY INTO OUR LIVES. YET WHILE WE REJOICE IN OUR VICTORIES, WE ARE UNABLE TO IGNORE THE DEFEATS. FOR THEY ARE IMPORTANT ALSO. ALTHOUGH DE¬ FEAT BRINGS US NO GREAT HAPPINESS OR PRIDE, WE LEARN MUCH FROM IT. IT HELPS US TO REALIZE OUR FAILURES AND MISTAKES, SO THAT WE MAY IMPROVE OURSELVES. 13 A TIME FOR INVOLVEMENT 14 A TIME TO REFLECT AS THE YEAR COMES TO AN END WE HAVE TIME TO REFLECT ON THE KNOWLEDGE WE HAVE GAINED. WE LOOK BACK UPON OUR MANY ACHIEVEMENTS AND MISTAKES IN ORDER TO LEARN FROM THEM. IT IS A TIME TO REFLECT UPON THE FRIENDSHIPS WE HAVE FORMED AND THE MOMENTS WE HAVE SHARED. WHEN WE GO OUR SEPARATE WAY ' S, OUR MEMORIES OF OUR DAYS AT NORTHWOOD WILL NOT BE FOR¬ GOTTEN BUT WILL BE TREASURED FOREVER. Giving no thought to the hard things in life Not thinking their good times could end. They had just leached eighteen, that magical age That turns boys into men. But somehow to me, they still were the same As carefree as always they’d been. The future was bright, a lifetime ahead The whole world was theirs to command. But God in his wisdom from Heaven above Was looking out over the land. He needed a young man just like one of these A place for him already planned. So he sent down an angel on silvery wings To touch and hold on to one ' s hand. One boy was taken, the others remained Ea h sad, but a much wiser man. They grew up that day in the hardest of ways I., Not able to understand How this could be, Why did it happen to me? One moment can change all your plans.
