Orchestra Upholds l-larmonious Quality Bringing a variety of orchestral music to the student body, the Northwood Orchestra demonstrated their outstanding ability at many concerts and holiday programs. ln addition to playing during the school day, the musicians held their musicales at night, permitting adult attendance. Under the direction of lVlr. Harry Putt, the students held daily practice during third period to help coordinate the efforts of the numerous members. Supplying the music for the All School Production in lVlay was a major task of the Orchestra, as were the many programs held throughout the year. Among these were a Christmas Assembly in December and a Spring Concert later in the year. The productions were many times a joint effort between the Orchestra and the Concert Choir. Outside the school the group participated in the Maryland State Competition which ranked the group among other fine orchestras in the state. The musicians maintained their excellent quality characteristic of past years and succeeded with instilling the student body with culture and fine music.
