Keyettes Frances lVlanus and Sherry Altman prepare silkscreen in designing club posters. Groups Encourage Community Concern Organizing various projects and activities, the boys' and girls' service clubs assisted their school and community. Fol- lowing an induction of new members in early November, the Key Club staged a Road Rally and a gym night at Northwood. A fall tutoring project at St. Jude's Children's Hospital, along with a collection for the lVlarch of Dimes and a sale of pom-poms were among other accomplishments. Getting off to an early start, Northwood's Wheel Club assisted in the school office during the summer of 1968. Cleaning the school grounds and patrolling the lunchroom were club senlices as the year began, as well as selling school nighties and sponsoring several school dances later on in the year. Nlade up of athletic lettermen, the N Club helped promote school spirit and an interest in sports at Northwood. Printing programs for all football games and designing a float for Homecoming were among useful projects sponsored by the club. Benefiting the community was also the goal of girls' senfice clubs. Beginning in September Keyettes staged a tutoring project for young children at Christ Child Home. The girls also held an auction at Marvin Methodist Church for the benefit of migrant workers and collected money for soldiers in Vietnam. Working along side Keyettes, the Girls' Service Club ini- tiated their own projects of community concern, which included visits to St. Anne's Orphanage. Girls Service Club member Peg Cole collects for the lVlarch of Dimes.

Students Organize School Government Appointed committee chairmen and elected officers who comprised the Student Government Association met seventh period to organize school activities and government. Under- going major changes, the school constitution was rewritten thus providing clearer explanations of previously controversial procedures. Along with changing the constitution, Student Government altered the manner of student representation. Each class now has eight representatives instead of the usual fifteen. Supervised by the Executive Committee, Northwood's Student Government sponsored numerous school-wide activi- ties. Among these were a student exchange program with Western High School in Washington, D. C. and attempts at predicting the presidential race with mock elections in late October. Providing names and telephone numbers of students at Northwood, the Student Directory began circulation with the help of the Executive Committeer More important than sponsoring various activities, the Student Government As- sociation succeeded in promoting student interest. Jill Gross and Mike Hamlin check the school office for SGA bulletins. Organizations
