Hmm 5 Northwood Band members Kevin Putt, Clark Forsey, and Bill Yeckley play their instruments in the courtyard during a seventh period pep assembly. Students Delight In Assorted Activities E Northwood students were kept busy with various activities from the beginning of school on September 3 until the last day on June 19. To start off the year, students danced to the music of The Atlantics at the SGA-sponsored Welcome Dance. Later in the year, the SGA also sponsored the Vice-Versa dance on Valentine's Day, featuring The New Breed. The attendance at these dances was very good, and students had enjoyable times. From the start of the year, pep assemblies were held both inside the gym and outside in the courtyard for the various athletic teams. Films concerning driving safety were shown by the administration, and speakers came to talk with the student body. The music department presented several band, orches- tra, choir, and lVladrigal concerts to entertain the students. Plans were made for the production of a talent show, and a few students had acts planned, but it was cancelled due to a lack of response for the auditions. Northwood held its first annual photography contest in April, and a paper airplane flying contest also took place earlier in the year. lVlarty Rosenthal diligently practices with a yo-yo by his locker after ' school for an act to be included in the senior-sponsored talent show. r ' ll

Graduating Seniors Establish emories Winding up their last year as high school students, seniors of the class of '69 made the best of their last few weeks at Northwood. Their busiest and most enjoyable time was Se- nior Week, from IVIay 26 to IVlay 29. Seniors wore traditional beanies throughout the month. The Senior Week chairman, Connie Nladison, spent many hours planning the activities for each day, and her hard work made all the fun possible. During the week, activities included such things as the annual senior skit in the gym, distribution of the Senior Will, the Banquet at Peter Pan Restaurant, and Senior Skip Day. Montgomery lVlaIl, the unique setting of the Senior Prom on lVlay 29, was complete transformed by elaborate decor- ations. Couples enjoyed dancing to a live band by the scenic fountains. Cole Field House was the site of the graduation ceremonies on June 12. Students received diplomas as relatives watched. Steve Salata and Jack Horwitz take a few minutes after school to make some corrections in the Senior Skit and review previous suggestions. 2' was S.. g f 'ffiugqf' ' .. w... .H Activities 59
