Talent Shines ln Musical Production Northwood presented its third consecutive musical ASP on May first through the third. The Bells Are Ringing centers around the story of two cousins working in an answering service company. Sue, portrayed by Marsha Coates, owns the company, and Debby Hauptman, playing the role of Ella, is her kookie cousin who always creates some kind of disorder while trying to help other people. Every morning Ella calls Jeff Moss, played by Jack Brownley, to wake him up. Jeff Moss eventually meets and falls in love with Ella, not realizing that she is really the supposedly sweet old lady who calls him up every morning. Faculty director of The Bells Are Ringing was Mr. David Gammons. He was assisted by Mr. Wenhold, Mr. Putt, Mr. Baumann, Mr. Balderson, Miss Smith, Mrs. Kimble, Mr. Evans, and Mrs. Willis. Student director Leslie Gradet and stage manager Jack Horwitz volunteered much of their time to help the faculty directors in conducting rehearsals as well as helping to plan the musical itself. Many other students were involved in the musical, and it was their combined efforts that made 'this year's musical production the success it was. Chorus members Sandy Burns, Sue Schmidt, Diane Fortna, Sue Steely, and Kaye Stein prepare to sing the opening number at ASP practice. Activities 53
