Northwood Displays Lively Homecoming Despite Northwood's defeat by Montgomery Blair, the tremendous spirit displayed throughout the year still prevailed at the Homecoming game. Spirit Week started off with Crazy Tie and Hat Day, followed by a Psychedelic Day and a Bed and Black Day. Snoopy Day, inspired by this year's Homecoming theme, Happiness is Homecoming, turned out to be a favorite. Throughout the week, students purchased red colored bagels, otherwise known as Spirit Rings, at the main entrance. Activities of Spirit Week climaxed with a pep rally on the evening before the game, followed by a funeral for the crushed Blazer. Saturday's game was an exciting one in spite of the defeat. During half-time, senior Peg Cole, the newly named Home- coming Queen, attracted all the attention. She presided over her new Court, which consisted of sophomores Deetsie Chrapaty and Nancy Baspet, juniors Barbara Daly and Melanie Strachan, and seniors Linda Sinopoli and Dale Ricucci. High- lighting the Homecoming dance, Anne Raines crowned Peg Cole as 1968 Homecoming Queen. PublicityCommittee Posts School News Headed by committee chairman Joan Nlurphy, the SGA publicity committee kept Northwood students informed of all the upcoming events in the school. In the beginning of the school year, the committee sold activity calendars and activity tickets. lt also sold a 1969 student directory, which was very popular with the students. Throughout the year it sponsored numerous dances and concerts, including the Welcome Dance and the Vice-Versa Dance. Included in the committee's many duties were such things as silk screening various posters, arranging the Ca Wing showcase, and putting up and painting bulletin boards. lt also helped to publicize the student government plans by means of different posters and the use of the morning and afternoon announcements. During the entire school year, the Social Committee worked in connection with the Publicity Committee to promote school-wide interests and to create school enthu- siasm. Under the direction of the Social Committee was the Booster Club. This small sub-committee aided in the arousing of the school spirit which prevailed throughout the year. The teamwork displayed by these three commit- tees helped in making this year's SGA a success. Publicity Committee member Pam Bozzi posts a memo in the hall.
