Putt, a new addition to our faculty, led NHS's instrumental groups in their usual excellent performance. Our singing groups, Concert Choir and lVladrigal Singers, fulfilled their reputation of superb concerts and unparalleled originality. During the second week in lVIarch, the Nladrigal Singers took a trip south to visit and perform. ln lVlr. Wenhold's home town, the group sang at the Saint Paul's Lutheran Church. They also sang at a high school in R ichmond, Virginia and at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Ga. Various art courses offered students an outlet for self-expression and creativity. Students entered samples of their art work in the annual Scholastic Art Show held regionally. Several pieces won prizes and were sent on to the national championship in New York for further judging. Driver Education provided the mandatory training required by state law to obtain a driver's license at age sixteen. Patient instructors spent many hours attempting to teach the skills of the road. Students aided in the instruction of the course by serving as teacher aides. Physical fitness and good sportsmanship were two of the many goals of Northwood's Physical Education Department. Week-end practice, supervised by volunteer teachers, supple- mented the daily exercise and game practice of regular classes. Northwood's Band, Orchestra, and Music Appreciation teacher, lVlr.
