,,, .,,,, t,..,....,,., m ... Sophomore Class Council executive officers, Walter Loope, Sally Kurtz, and David Whitlow, examine their recently completed constitution. Sophornores Begin Northwood Experience ii . 43 - ij 132 Sophomores Before the start of school, Northwood's Class of 1971 was introduced to high school customs and traditions through an orientation. Under the sponsorship of lVlr. David Goldenson, the sophomores elected Class Council officers. As the new President, Walter Loope asserted his authority in decisive matters throughout the year. The Sophomore Class was very successful with its first bake sale that received a great student backing. Taking advantage of new opportunities, sophomores be- came active in various clubs, activities, and athletics. A booth representing the Class of 7l was included in the activity fair this year. After much debate and planning, the Council organized a sophomore dance that had a large attendance. Among the most important achievements of the Sopho- more Class was the writing of a new consitution. Written up by the executive committee, the constitution was ratified by the remainder of the council. It served to guide the Sophomore Class through its first year in high school and helped them to establish their own traditions and become a part of Northwood. SOPHOMORE CLASS COUNCIL - Front Row: M.
