Gymnasts Demolish Lesser Opponents Superb performances by many individuals on the Gymnastic team brought Northwood a county title. Losing only once in county competition, the boys' and girls' teams trampled their opponents. Mark Musy was the standout performer both for the Indians and for the county. ln his three events, horizontal bar, still rings, and parallel bars, he won many titles, including county and state optional championships. Tommy Worsley, Gary Delano, and Lenny Gordon, provided- excellent tumbling with Tom and Gary also standouts on the trampoline. Dave Schreiber, Phil Musy, and Gordon worked well on the equipment. Patty McCabe and Melanie Strachan led the girls' team on the trampoline. Linda Sandhaus, who won a medal at the county meet, was consistent on the uneven parallel bars. Lenny Gross, Helen Johnson, and Nancy Raspet also helped Northwood win meets with fine performances on the uneven parallel bars, the vaulting box, and in free exercise. County and State Champion Mark Musy prepares to assist Steve Sanders on the boy s parallel bars in a winning dual meet against Einstein

Varsity Exoells In Shooting Averages Starting off the season sensationally, the aggressive cagers lost their momentum in the second half. Their overall record, 8-11, does not portray their incredible wins in the first half of the season, when their record was 7-2. Remarkable outside shooting by juniors Ron Reed and Henry Kleinknecht, spectacular playmaking by Bob Klein- knecht, and aggressive drives by Andy Gabrilovitch led the potent Northwood offense. Senior Joe Kraut and junior Stuart Plitman provided the team with offensive bench strength. Ouickness displayed by seniors Bob Kleinknecht, Dave Baker, Gabrilovitch, Lee Wolfe, and juniors Reed and Phil Wagenheim highlighted the defense. Coach Frey often changed the defense from man-to-man to zone to keep the opponent confused. Northwood's high point of the season was the annihilation of high-scoring Springbrook. Although season scoring leader Bon Reed did not play because of illness, the cagers shot well to defeat the Blue Devils 90-75. During the second half of the season the aggressiveness of the team suddenly and mysteriously disappeared in the fourth quarter of each game. Some teams which had lost to North- wood earlier, and were trailing the Indians in the fourth quarter, took advantage of the slumping cagers and won. Senior Andy Gabrilovitch jumps for another successful driving layup. Sports 107
