M. Under the able supervision of Mr. Edward A. Bartlett, Northwood has made astounding progress towards becoming the outstanding school in our community. When Mr. Bartlett took his place on September 10, l956, as the principal of this chaotic group of teach- ers and students who were to make up Northwood, he was faced with many problems. He overcame the obstacles present when opening a school still under construction -- one without lockers, books, desks, or electricity. He initiated a program of activities and courses which united the student body in building a loyal and strong school spirit. His patience, under- standing, and ability to see the problems of today's youth have enabled him to bring forth high standards of scholarship and citizenship at Northwood. iff Vs: f. ff? J ,f ' 'x ll.- ln appreciation and in recognition of Mr. Bartlett's leadership and guidance we the Staff of the 1958 Arrowhead, hereby dedicate to him, this our first yearbook. We wish to thank Mr. Bartlett for guiding us through the infant years of a growing school and for creating the reality which Northwood is today from a dream of yesterday.

Mr. Ahlberg's responsibilities cover many duties as he is Dean ol the Senior High School. Mr. Carroll R. Kearns, B. S. Fair- mont State College, M. S. West Virginia University. Dean of the Junior High School is the title which explains the var- ious aspects of Mr. Kearns' position. 5- fi W . 55, l ,ii Mr. Roy Kenneth Twentey, B. A., M. A. Maryland University. As Vice-Principal he is respon- sible for the maintenance of the building, the supervision of special subiects, adult education, and stu- dent activities. As vice-principals, Mr. Ahlberg, Mr. Kearns, and Mr. Twentey actually fulfill four iobs in one: they are co-ordinators, administrators, educators, and friends. Each is hard working, always helpful, and truly patient with all who come to him for aid. They contribute greatly to the smooth functioning of our school organization.
