hH The Psychology of Seeing the Light I see the light Geezuz (Laughs to himself) Ha I ' ve seen the light Geezuz (Stretches his muscles) (Lights up a cigarette and paces the room) This is terrible I see the light that I ' ve seen the light (I ' m so confused that I can ' t even backtrack.) What ' s so bad about seeing the light that I ' ve seen the light? The uncertainty. I hope I ' m not a true believer ! He just told me that Martin Luther blew it; but wasn ' t he an action man? (Paces and rethinks his reply) Maybe I ' ve been oversocialized and then disillusioned and finally converted like he says. Is cleaning house just a part of cleaning house? is it suspect; or am I uncertain? Maybe I should just take it and p lunder ahead with my action life — I feel like I just read the Bible and sucked it up. He says he will discuss . . . The Consequences of being a Member in the next chapter; maybe I ' ll get the answers there. But I still feel helpless — I ' ve got to believe what he says from now on and be converted to his Way, not just by Seeing the Light . I wonder what happened to him when he got this far writing that chapter? Did he laugh at himself and fart it off or did he blow it in the next chapter? Uncertainty can blow one ' s mind. I think I ' ll write him a letter. 19
