his year the Syllabus is dedicated to you, the students of Northwestern, in recognition of the fact that it is you who make the university what it is. You give Northwestern life, for in it you achieve 1 scholarship, leadership, and friendship. In a broader sense you are the university and it can be no more than a mirror, a reflection of you as individuals and as a group. Around you center the activities of the school and from your efforts and endeavors the year 1944- 1945 has been made. This, your book, Written for you and about you, is the record of that year. We there- fore dedicate the 1946 Syllabus to you the students- to you who are Northwestern. WHO ARE THE UNIVERSITY
