JACK ALEX BONO Although originally residing in Pittsburgh, Pa., Jack left the smoky city under the cover of midday darkness and hightailed it for N.U. Once in the general vicinity. he soon chose Winnetka for his headquarters instead of the customary west campus choice of his comrades. Because of this, graduation means only one thing to Jack- --wedding bells. Mr. and Bono's energetic son can usually be found putting his athletic abilities into use for Pi Kappa Alpha or else ofliciating at the New Trier swimming meets. While at N.U. Jack majored in bridge, ping-pong, and sack drill. He also learned to work out on a slide rule. Although a platoon leader, J. A. Bono expended most of his military energy in leading his platoon into Lunt chowhall as special guests of the color guard. To continue his mechanical engineering education, 24M point Bono requested duty at Steam School. Could it be that Jack wants to spend his last six months of navy duty Stateside? Or could it possibly be due to that aforcmentionecl Winnetka charmer? JOHN ALFRED BRUNELLI John Brunelli was the BMOC, BTO, C.U. LATER and Big Dealer of his class. He always looks like he is the bearer of great news when usually all he has to say .l'1n from Boston . Originally built along the lines of P1'imo Canerra, then squashed down to about five foot six, John presents an appearance much like a well dressed beer barrel on wheels. His most pressing duty at N.U. was a strict and complete avoidance of all types of work, physical and otherwise. He was brewed in Boston, bottled into the RO's, and capped with the idea that seine day his brother's horse will win a race. To this point, however, all John has to do with his bookmaker is give him money. But a lover it is a different story. His short stature, jerky walk, smooth hair-do. and uncontrollable laughter make him a character in a distinctive class of his own. The greater part of his time was spent industriously in doing absolutely nothing but admit that he was a member of the DSLB. Supposedly able to beat a wicked d1'um, no one ever saw him beating anything but his gums. Burnie's Phi Kappa Alpha pin is now being prominently displayed on his hometown sweater girl down St. Louis way. His engagement came somewhat as a surprise to both parties under the spell of our unexpected Christmas leave. Burneson's home at N.U. was the east wing of Tech f1'OIH which he would occasionally be observed emerging for air. On cold, wintei'y days Hal's passion for tennis is reduced to a passive interest in the more season- able game of ping-pong. It's rumored that even the almighty C. E. Parker feared his unpredictable left-handed serve. RICHARD VAUGHAN CONNERS Bubbling over with good spirits Cespecially good on Saturday night at 50 cents an ouneej. Dick Conners Hrst rocketted into the public eye garbed only in a girdle with a two-way stretch and a football helmet. Since that time he has discarded the helmet for the laurel wreath but he retained the girdle as a piece of vital equipment. 'tBubbles is his nickname, it is also his general silhouette. When not toting footballs for the glory of N.U. and Phi Kappa. Psi, Dick spent his time saying hello to people. He was a regular Jim Farley. As intrepid company commander of Co. 31, down Nob Hill way, Dick was the least eager guy in the whole bunch. And one look at the members of his company will show that is quite a statement. Little girls sighed over him, infatuated female football fans cut his picture from the sports pages, coeds cooed about his curly hair, but dauntless Dick was completely impervious. He just went right on being true to Dottie, who, like Chicago's south side, and Wiritlsoi' knotted ties, occupies a very dear spot in his heart. 18 -1?
