A MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT KYSER Over the years, the Potpourri has recorded the activities and spirit of our college. It reveals many of our basic com- mon interests and purposes. It can always help to show us a pattern of emphasis, and provide opportunity for reflection. Never have the opportunities for growth and enrichment of individuals in colleges been so great. The very abun- dance of subject matter wares displayed in curricula, how- ever, demands the exercise of caution, evaluation, and selec- tion. In a world where the individual ' s time contracts with the expansion of opportunity, knowledge and wisdom ac- quire a new priority. Despite all of the changes in environment, the human spirit must be nourished as of old. For most of humanity, there is no substitute for family and friends, for vital inter- ests and imagination, for knowledge and values that promote the growth of insight and compassion. The ennoblement of men and women in all ages demands the identification and pursuit of values beyond compromise. Working together, first as men and women of good will, and next as collegians, may we at Northwestern State College help one another to experience the growth that has been meaningful throughout the ages. fe l ziht Q lA
