IN TRIBUTE TO P MR. JOHN SMITH For nearly a decade, the Northwestern State College bus has been guided over many thousands of miles of highway by a short, middle-aged man. He is known by — or has come into contact with — virtually every student on campus who goes anywhere on the familiar Demon Bus. He possesses an attitude that is terse and to the point, and he is not afraid to tell you what he thinks. Yet, he is well-liked by all who approach him. He is known to have more school spirit than most students. Whether there is one or one thousand Demon supporters backing our teams, he is there to cheer them on. In many cases in past years — when the cheerleaders were unable to accompany the teams on trips — it was not an un- common sight to see him leading the spectators in cheers. Often, his appearance with the cheerleaders seemed to put added life into the Demon supporters. Whether the group be athletic, debate, chorus, or just Northwestern students, he always possesses that seemingly serious but jocular spirit while he escorts them. For very obvious reasons, we of the 1062 Potpourri staff dedicate this annual to Mr. John Smith. M
