n Memoriam Lorane V. Brittain Lorane V. Brittain, a member of the Northwestern faculty since 1930, died October 20, I960. Mr. Brittain received his degree at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, and completed work at the University of Chicago. A native of Kansas, he was holder of the Pro Music award in Kansas, and was a veteran of World War II. He had been serving as acting head of the Music Department at Northwestern. He was a member of the Louisiana Music Educators Association, faculty advisor for Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and a member of Kappa Delta Phi. 20
