af » he é t ‘ 3 = re - GREETINGS! The teacher training institutions of the state of Ok!ahoma during the early days of statehood were probably adequate for those days. Since that time many new problems have arisen; there has been great scientific progress. Nations of the earth are closer together in terms of transportation and communication than they ever were before. It has become necessary for the colleges of the state to progress along with the advancement in science, literature, industry, and the arts. There was a time when graduation from high school was accepted for teacher certification. The time came when a Bachelor's Degree was required in Oklahoma and finally the Master's Degree has become the goal of most public school teachers. This year the Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education authorized the Oklahoma State Colleges, of which Northwestern is one, to offer a Master of Teaching Degree. Along with the progress in curricula and teacher certification have gone improvements inthe physical facilities of these institutions. Northwestern has recently dedicated a more modern and ample Health and Physical Education Building and is now in the process of constructing a modern Natatorium. This college will soon undertake to construct a student center where Wyatt Gymnasium now stands. The faculty members of this institution have constantly been upgraded so that many faculty members have Doctors' Degrees and nearly all of those who do not have the Doctorate have sixty or more graduate hours. The progress of the college is consonant with that made in the scientific and industrial world. Sabin C. Percefull, President
