MISS AFTON BILBY, Assistant Professor of Edu- cation, has an A.B. degree from Northwestern State College and an M.A. from Columbia University. Her present position dates back to 1929 for its beginning. Miss Bilby is also a sponsor of Pi Kappa Sigma fBeta Sororityj. MRS. EDITH W. HIGGINBOTHAM, Assistant Pro- fessor of Education, is one of the older faculty mem- bers, having began her position in 1927. Mrs. Hig- ginbotham has an A.B. degree from Phillips University and an M.A. .from Colorado State College of Educa- tion. She sponsors Sigma Sigma Sigma QXij. i.,: 4 MISS MATTIE LYDAY, Assistant Professor of Edu- cation, teaches the little folks over at Horace Mann. Besides teaching the ABC's and readin', writin' and 'rithmetic, she exercises a personal interest in each individual student. Miss Lyday, who began her posi- tion in 1931, has a B.S. degree from George' Peabody College and an M.A. from Columbia University. 164

lx 'cr STUDENT COUNCIL HE STUDENT COUNCIL has done a marvelous job this year. They, in conjunction with the Administration, have worked out a body of rules and regulations that govern the stu- dent body. In addition to the legislative activities of this group it sponsors many dances and parties during the school year for the students. One of the most admirable and charitable activities sponsored by them this school year was the Ugly Man contest held to raise funds for the polio drive. Their greatest social function of the first semester was the Sadie Hawkins dance held in the Fine Arts Building on the campus at the close of Sadie Hawkins week.
