Ski Team The Ski Tea mis NMC newest sport activity and has its regu- lar tryouts during the winter term. Although not many meets were scheduled this year it was considered a success by all the team members. It is sponsored by the NMC Ski Club. The Hrst meet was held at Hickory I-Iills with NMC as host to a group of colleges from all over the state. Michigan State Uni- versity, Flint J.C., Alma and Central Michigan Colleges were represented, Bob McCall of NMC was the individual winner of all events, winning in downhill, slalom, and combined times, The Michigan Intercollegiate Ski Meet at Boyne Mountain are to be held March 7-8 and NMC has a very good chance in placing high in this event. All team members will return next year insuring a success! ful season. They are Bob McCall, Dick Zue, Roy Aronldt, Gary Beck, Marshall Carr, and Terry Stuck. Cheerleaders an Katy Longgore, Bonnie Reid, jean johnson, Sue Haase. This year the student body, by vote, chose from fourteen girls, the four they wanted to be N,M.C.'s cheerleaders. They were not only chosen for their ability to cheerlead, but also on the basis that they would be representing N.M.C. A series of events, sponsored by the Pep Club, made enough money to buy new wool pleated skirts and new sweaters for the cheerleaders. Katy Longcore, Sue Haase, Bonnie Reid and Jean johnson did much to bolster Northwestern's school spirit and aided the enthusiasm of the student body. Although the season was short due to cold weather and snow they competed in four regular meets and the state tournament. The squad managed to place llth in the state meet ending a very exciting season. Credit is due to Coach Moenkhaus for his fine assistance in a somewhat unsuccessful season.
