We, the class of 1968, have endeavored to apply this idea to our lives throughout our school days. In this eleventh edition of Reverie we feature the creation of a special Music section, and for the first time advertisements are included. Also, for the first time at N.H.S. we will have a June publication. Using these additions and thetheme of keys, we wish to open the doors of N.H.S. to the community and present an account of the events and activities of the 1967-68 school term. bY'3Qf5gff 7 W2'7fE5: ,fvWaHW25gE1W gvvgfgfi 1 ,, A ,Simi I Wsgsr, , .gi , frtgfafi -. wvj s M ' 'A ' 3-., , X' A ., W 5, , wi!-gs'-H . That's us and we're proud of it. Many memories to look back on and much to hope for for the future. It's been a wonderful year at N. H. S. We carried on the tradition of a bonfire, pep rally and dance before a football game. Another tradition was started with the selection of a Football Queen from our class. Our Halloween dance was a success.with The Backwater Blues Klan. It was the first psychedelic Halloween in Northwestern's history. Mrs. Kerschner was kept busy with our applications, transcripts, college boards, and acceptances. Fruitcake sales turned over a sizeable profit, and some beautiful, feathery Christmas wreaths were made and sold. The yearbook was a subject of much controversy. Our donkey basketball game, a comeback for that hilarious sport? Class Day was planned in business law class and jolted the school out of late spring doldrums. Then came the important day - graduation - and an end to our travels with Northwestern. Now, on to bigger and even better years. Eileen C. Althouse Academic . . . Larger and reorganized, Council has contributed a large sum to the cost of a new scoreboard, re-opened the school store, sponsored the Harlem Satellite game, and opened the door to better understandings in the Student-Faculty meetings. This could not have been done without the guidance of Mr. Loy, and the leadership of the President, Gloria Zimmerman, Vice-President, Rick Seyler, Secretary, Andrea Creitz, and Treasurer, George Polak. The team re- corded its first varsity victory since football was intro- duced in N. H. S. four years ago. On September 16, 1967, the Tigers overpowered visiting Shenandoah Catholic, 34-12. Guiding our team this season was our enthusiastic coach, Mr. Morgan. Helpful pointers were given to the players by the assistants, Mr. Loy and Mr. Stoudt. Despite the disappointing 1-7 record, the team had a few close games including 18-12 and 13-12 losses to Pleasant Valley and Marian Catholic respectively. Losing only four senior starters from the team, Mr. Morgan expects to turn next year's rematches into a winning season. This theory has been applied at N. H. S. by the formation of a junior high basketball team. Under the coaching of Mr. James Fenster- macher and Mr. Roger Stern, the team compiled a 2-11 record. May this early practice and experience prove profitable for them as future junior varsity players. The percentage of individual bout victories is more indicative of the team's performance. Under the dedicated coaching of Mr. Civitts and Mr, 'Horvath the wrestlers developed physical strength, mental attitudes, and self-dicipline. For the first time since wrestling was introduced four years ago, our team participated in a holiday tournament. The team returned from the North Schuylkill Holiday Tournament with three 2nd place winners and one 1st place winner. Lee McCullough, our 91 lb. freshman, represented N. H.
