BOY ' S DAY AS POLICE COMMISSIONER - ALBERT GREEN Page 28 Albert Green was elected, along with five other boys, to attend Boy ' s Day Nomination Con- vention on November 20, I960. This meeting was held at the Veterans Memorial Building. After breakfast, the boys started campaigning and caucusing for their boy officials. Albert, because of a good platform paper, was nominated with four others to run for mayor. After placing second in the returns, he chose to serve as Police Commissioner. On November 27, I960, the boys met with their counterparts early in the morning and started their government experience about noon. After Commissioner Hart and Albert appeared on Tele- vision, they went to 1300 Beaubien in a black Police-equiped Imperial. Following the entran-e into the Police Building by a secret door, he was taken through the entire building, including laboratory, jail, pistol range and the Police Academy. He was put in a lineup where he experi- enced a criminal ' s view for identification. In the picture, Albert is signing an order of the day ' s work that the real commissioner (standing) usually does. That night ,he ate dinner with the real commissioner in the Statler-Hilton Hotel. One of the Senior Inspectors drove him home in the front seat of a big-four car. He received a Police Citation and Merit Award for his effort.

SENIOR SPADE CEREMONY Talt Malone, president of the January class, presented the spade to Glenna Mixon who represented the June class. This tradition through many years emphasises the common ties between the departing seniors and the next graduating class. After each class adds the colors to the spade the president ad- monishes the successors to maintain the standards and ideals of which Northwestern has long been proud. Page 27
