fnunctl Do your part was the slogan for the Northwestern Student Council of 1940 and 1941. Under the direction of Phil McLean, president for the fall term, with Henry Brockhaus pounding the gavel in the Spring, and with such active sponsors as Mr. Wolber, Miss Merriam, and Mr. 1VlcGuinness, the group continued its fine record of service to the school. Founded in 1921, this organization has become an indispensable part of Northwestern High School life. It is the medium through which the student body has its affect upon the organization of the school. Its influence is felt in every phase of school life. This year it accomplished complete 'fhousecleaningu of the trophy cases. printing of ldentincation Cards, and sponsored two gay and colorful dances each semester. the proits of one being appropriated to the lnfantile Paralysis Fund. It also contributed one thousand dollars toward the public address system. Perhaps the Student Councils most important function was the operation of the Used Book Store. supervised by Mr. lVlcGuinness. More than two thousand dollars' worth of books were bought and sold each term.
