Shortly afterward ambulances and rescue equipment from Cranesville. Albion. Platea. Girard. Edinbor- o. Springfield and Conneaut. Ohio were in route to what they thought to be a major disaster. Once they arrived at the scene they were relieved to find out that it was only a mock disaster drill. Even though it was only a drill the firemen set about their duties as if it were the real thing. Approximately 30 Northwestern High School students were made up to look like accident victims. The students were given first aid and many were actually transported to a local hospital by ambulances. Most of the students found it exciting to be part of the training exercise. 13 SHOULD I STAY ... With only one Senior and one Junior, Sophomores made up the core of the team. Though a young varsity, they proved to be tough competition for some of the best teams including Iroquois and Fort LeBoeuf. The scoring was more balanced this year and teamwork improved. They were involved in a number of close ballgames and gained much valu- able experience. The J.V. team was 4-3 when forced to cancel the remainder of their season. Next year they will be back. Life is queer with its twists and turns, as every one of us sometimes learns, and many a fellow turns about. When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don’t give up though the pace seems slow — You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man; often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup; and he learned too late when the night come down, how close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out — The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, and you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems a far; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit — It's when things seem worst that you must not quit. Every year there are those who are acclaimed with praise and trophies as they are highlighted by some great accomplishment, but the rare individuals who help make it all possible rarely receive any credit. Aside from working along with the team, they devote their time to the little factors that make a game possible. The Criterion Staff has devoted this page to those who deserve the credit for making the winter sports of 1982-83 a successful one. No matter how serious or stone faced the students and teachers should be. there is always time to crack a joke or a face with a smile to make the very humdrum days worth while. There will always be the graduating Seniors, but with these people come the character that has shaped the personality of our school. 157 CLASS OFFICERS Sophomore Class Officers: Kim Snyder Treasurer.
