Backward, flow backward, O full tide of years! I am so weary of toil and of tears, Toil without recompense — tears all in vain. Take them and give me my childhood again. I have grown weary of dust and decay, Weary of flinging my heart’s wealth away — Weary of sowing for other to reap; Rock me to sleep, mother, rock me to sleep. — Allen Changing Times Nineteen Eighty Today is not yesterday. - We ourselves change. - How then, can our works and thoughts, if they are always the fittest, continue always the same. — Change, indeed, is painful, yet ever needful: and if memory have its force and worth, so also has hope. — Carlyle Changing Times Table of Contents Fall 8 Winter 32 Seniors 44 Spring 80 2 In Dedication to Lee Davis Lee Davis has served our school for about 25 years. From 1975 to 1977 he was principal. He also was a teacher involved with math, science, and social studies as well as the teaching of good character and pride. This year he is retiring. We hope that he continues influencing people. 3 Take That Hat OFF! Hats can get you into trouble. Sometimes you end up in detention, but you still have that hat on your head. You call that perseverance. Pictured on these pages are some of the more wierd hats that graced (?) the halls of Northwestern during 1979-80. They vary from the sublime of Mickey Mouse ears to good- looking cowboy hats. Hats off to hats! 4 There are a lot of things that you can do. like run races. If you work at the Fair, there are class advisors like Mr. B. that you have to keep a look-out for. i a-i Mtnu iuiy’i Klondiws.,.5 Ufc CKL4l- 6 7 At left: Look busy? If It’s A Football Game It Might Be A Friday Night A big win over Erie County Co-Champion North East highlighted the season for the 1979 edition of the Northwestern Wildcat Football team. They knocked the Pickers in the first game to start things off right, but injuries and confusing weather left the team 4-4-1 in the end. Twice during the year, games planned for one date were rescheduled due to extreme weather conditions. It was a confusing season to say the least. The Year Of 24 The Child 25 Cage Women Roll On The Northwestern Womens Basketball team suf- fered through a losing season in 1979 going a dismal 3 and 15. Coach Dean Henderson did a fine job of preparing his squad for future action on the Wildcat hardwoods. The young cagers ended their season on a strong note, upsetting North East in the last game of the season. 38 Northwestern’s Mock Wedding Takes Place Last Fall The Mock Wedding Assembly took place last au- tumn. Wildcat Women Wough in Wolleyball Northwestern's Women's Volleyball teams, under the direction of Coach Lit Mershon, have made a habit of winning in the Erie County League. Since becoming part of the P1AA playoff system several years ago, the team has never posted a losing season. This year, using a lot of young players, they finished 13-5. Four seniors finished their years as volleyball players at Northwestern: Tina Rendulic, Anita Gage, Pam Woytek, and Maggie Kulyk. 40 At left are the 79-80 seniors (top to bottom): Pam Woytek. Their efforts delighted Northwestern au- diences, but the play became the center of con- troversy after it was over. With the passage of time, perhaps only the fine performances of the characters will be remembered. 98 CAST (in order of appearance) Patrick Dennia, age 10 ...............................................
