We also claimed the Erie County League Football Champion- ship, the first ever for Northwestern. It is a great honor and our gridders worked hard for it. Congratulations team and coaches for a great season. It will long be remembered here at Northwestern. 15 Coach Kaleida Harriers ... The 1976-77 Wildcat Cross Country team ran to a 3-4-1 season. It was Coach Kaleida's first losing season ever. In Invitational meets the Wildcats were: 3rd out of 10 teams at McDowell, 3rd out of 14 at Rocky Grove, 2nd in Erie County Meet, 2nd at District Ten and 15th at the State Meet. In the play-offs the team defeated Saegertown, lost to Mercer and was edged out of third place by Iroquois, 59-58, in the closing seconds of the game at Westminster. These girls did a fine job this year finishing the regular scheduled sea- son with a 16-2 record in a three- way tie for 1st place. Hull. 34 L'il Abner A Smashing Success Northwestern's version of L'il Ab- ner was an excellent example of the American musical. Mr. McCalmon and Mr. Winter directed the play which was a delight to see. The team was short on numbers and as a result did not do well at the County Meet. Second place finisher in the high jump, Steve Kaufer, will return in 1978 to lead the underclassmen. The Cinder Girls Kept on Running The Northwestern Girls Track team had power in the field events, but lack- ed the numbers to be strong in the distance events. They posted their winningest season ever in their third year of inter-scholastic play. A group of fine underclassmen will return next year and things will be better than ever. 45 The Junior Class Presents: 'Time Out For Ginger Guess whal! I made the team! The cast consisted of ]an Beery (Ginger), Sam Smith and Elaine Rapisarda (her parents), Mark Schmittle (her boyfriend), Becky Connors and Laura Lascek (the two loving sisters), Scott Gehr (the big-shot football player), Bob Remek (the high school principal), Teresa Sedler (the maid), and Will Rogers (the bank president). The play explored the glories and pitfalls of being a female football hero. The effects were hilarious, making the play a great success.
