Spirit Of 76 Let Freedom Ring! Spirit of 76 , Northwestern's Homecoming theme, gave a boost to the Bicentennial. The brightly displayed floats, the Northwestern Band, victory for the Wildcats, and even the traditional Homecoming dance were all cen- tered around this theme. It was one Home- coming we will never forget. 9 Unrehearsed Behavior 10 Play it again, Ann Let's go to the darkroom! The Dream Team 12 The Mouse That Roared The Class of 1976 presented the play, The Mouse That Roared on November 20th and 21st. The play concerned the efforts of a small country, who after declaring war on the United States, wanted to lose the war, in order that they would receive aid from the U.S. However, the plan backfired and they won, presenting them with a problem. The cast consisted of Wayne Brockett, Belinda Smith, Diane Loepp, Melinda Smith, Claudia Crouch, Lynne Connors, Charles Cherry, Snookie Buschak, Kathy Marcinowski, Karalee Burns, and Howard Church. George 63 Campus Life with Sam the Man The Ski Club took a five week course at Mt. Pleasant. Upon completion the club received seven broken legs, five busted arms, one slipped disc and one demolished snow fence. 64 Drama Club and Newspaper At left we look upon the Drama Club. They culminated their year with a trip to the Bicentennial city, Philadelphia. The club is advised by Mr. McCalmon. The staff of the school newspaper. Cat Tracks is pictured below. The newspaper had a variety of editors this year. However, Mr. O'Brien survived the entire year as ad- visor. 6S he Future Is Now One of the most active groups at Northwestern is the Future Farmers of America. They are involved throughout the entire year with various community and school projects. The officers are President - Larry Swift; Vice President - Andy Klobusnik; Secretary — Mike Gilbert; Sentinel - Don Parknow; Treasurer - Sam Schmidt; Reporter - Ken Phillips; and Student Advisor - Steve Homansky. Their advisors are Mr. Duncan and Mr. Crilley. The Future Home- makers of America's officers for the 1975-76 school year were; Presi- dent — Ruth Walters; Vice-President - Deb- bie Pavolko; Secretary — Arleen Mitchell; and Treasurer — Laurie For- tney. Their advisor is Mrs. Porter. Some of the activi- ties of F.H.A. include giving baskets of food to needy families dur- ing Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the Crowning of the May Day Queen. 66 Trim-M Modern Music Masters is a national organization honoring outstanding high school musi- cians. It's a service organization whose aim is to promote musi- cal events in the school and the community. Officers are: President — Naomi Copeland; Vice President — Mike Kate- genes; Secretary — Karalee Burns; and Treasurer - Bonnie Reigel. Varsity N The varsity N is made up of all the letter winners in Varsity sports at Northwestern. It was also one of their busiest after having a 12 game schedule, plus two weeks of strenuous pre-season work in the summer. In 1975 the Northwestern Wildcats once again became Erie County and District-10 Champs. The Cross Country team ran to a 14-0 dua, meet record. This extended their winning streak to 31 straight. The team came home with County and District honors behind Bruce lohnson's first place finish in the ECL race and a second place finish at District. At the State Meet the Wildcats finished 8th. They ended it all with the Erie County League Championship, the first one for NHS. Once again this year's wrestling team tried hard to bring in the victories, but things don't always work out ... try as they may. A record of 2-12 is not one of our best, but we look for better things next year. At the end of the season, Tom was undefeated with an impressive record of 18-0, 11 of these wins being consecutive pins. Tom won titles at the G.M. Christmas tournament and the Section Championship. He aslo placed 4th at Districts! 97 Under the direction of Coach Fargo, the girls had a season of 6 and 1.
