x . X V SCHOOL BOARD The problems of a newly consolidated school are many and varied. Northwestern's School Board, under the able direction of President Ernest Kennedy, coped successfully with our problems throughout the year. The parents, teachers and students of this district are deeply indebted to them, We wish to extend our sincere thanks for a job well done.

D ' iffllaff.. 5,1-.Q-..,,, M ,.. Dear Friends, Class of 1960: Your teachers at Northwestern join me in a note of appreciation to you for the cooperation and achievement, It has been stimulating to us to work with you and to have been a small part in your edu- cational efforts. We know that you will not remem- ber many of the little details of learning. On the other hand, we are certain that you can never forget the many friends and personalities you have en- countered during your high school days. If we have made you an eager, consistent learner, if we have caused you to be just a little more humble and considerate, if we have created a desire in you to become effective, loyal citizens, if we have shown you that reason and charity are more effective in getting things done than an arbitrary, uncom- promising attitude, if we have instilled in you a desire to love and to serve your fellow-man as well as to achieve personal advantages-then we will have achieved our purpose. And now abideth faith, hope, and charity, these three, but the greatest of these IS charity. We wish for you and yours the best of every- thing. Your Principal Charles C. Gilbert PRINCIPALS' MESSAGES The tbingr taught in Jcboolr . . . are not an educa- tion, but the mean: of education, Ralph Waldo Emerson Dear Friends of the graduating class of 1960: Emerson, in his wisdom, points out that 1960 is for you truly a commencement, and not an end of learning. If you know all the world's knowledge of today and learn no more, you will be ignorant in the complex world of 2000 A.D. We at North- western know that you are a great class, we challenge you to continue to grow in understanding and character. This world of 1960 desperately needs your leadership and service for the cause of humanity if the Northwestern class of 2000 is to graduate to a better world than ours of today. Please come back to visit your Alma Mater, Northwestern, in the years to come. Supervising Principal, Donald C. Thompson 5
