as-4 A Stitch In Time Neophyfres Northwestern has afforclecl its girls with an outstanding course in home economics. under excellent conditions and taught hy some of the lwest instructors in that helcl of sturly. Every thirtl of the year. the girls complete one phase of study. and move to another. Starting the year in the nursery. the girls get practical training in handling youngsters from three to five years of age. They are trained to unclerstancl the needs of chilclren and how to provide for them. Following their studies in the nursery. the girls next move to the clothes laboratory where they learn how to hny material and how to sew clothing anal other articles for the house. Finally the girls move to the food laboratory. ln here, they learn the best methocls of caring for and preparing fooml. For those girls who are interested in home decorating. there is a small hut complete apartment with which the girls experiment with color schemes and arrangements in the home. To develop the mind and emotions through paint- ing. ceramics. decorating and modern design is the purpose of the art department. et Designers Pleasant is the atmosphere in the art classes. Staid classroom procedure is avoided. An hour in art consists of creating and appreciating heauty. Modern equipment in an inviting room is at the disposal of the students.
