Assistant Principals r. Oates and Mr. Couick Take Care Gf Business l A familar figure in the Northwestern parking lot each morning is Mr. Tommy Oates, one of our assistant principals. Along with his duty of supervising the parking lot, he is also concerned with student discipline and attendance problems. Our other assistant principal, Mr. Jerry Couick, has completed his first year with us here at Northwestern. His areas of responsibility include trans- portation, buildings and grounds, and textbook distribution. With The Computer's Help, Counselors Schedule, and Re-schedule, and . Schedules! Schedules! Schedules! This is just one of the many daily dilemmas which face the guidance counselors. With the quinmester system they are also confronted with countless course selection opportunities and computerized report cards. Each counselor sponsors a class. Mrs. Ticktin sponsors the Senior Class. She informs these students of scholarship opportunities and prepares them for college. She aids in the ordering of graduation supplies and is the director of the commencement ceremonies. Coach Jenkins has a vital job in working with the Junior Class. He administers stan- darized tests, such as the career profile test. He also aids in the ordering of high school rings and is responsible for the planning of the Junior-Senior prom held annually in each spring. Mrs. Hilton sponsors the Sophomore Class. She helps these students in making the transition from Junior High to Northwestern and also aids them in preparing to fulfill the necessary requirements for graduation.
