5 Varsity Wildcats Strike Again Northwestern Varsity Basketball Team: Front Row Q1-rj: Coach Grover Kirkland, Rod Tipton, Phillip Miller, Robert Green, Coach Randy Hodge: Middle Row Teddy Jackson, Mary McGill, Kevin Ware, Bobby Weston, Harold Wareg Back Row Robert Liggins, Trent Tucker, Brian Richards, Larry Brown, Patrice Walker, Matthew Clevenger fnot picturedj, Tony Cobbins The Wildcats posted another victorious season, capturing its third city title and its fourth consecutive ' district title. The team had a successful summer by competing in St. Cecelin League in Detroit and ,f ending as champions. The Wildcats' talented Trent Tucker was voted most valuable player in that ' f tournament. The Wildcats feel proud of their accomplishments-facing and defeating tough opponents such as: No. 1-rated Pontiac Central . No. 2-rated Saginaw High No. 3-rated Flint Northern No. 1-rated Muskegon Heights fClass Bl This year's team was led by All-City, All-Valley, All-State, honor- J able mention All-American Trent 7' Tucker who maintained a 26.4 ' average, set a school and city record X in total points in one game-49. He was aided by All-Valley Harold Ware and honorable mention All-Valley Patrice V ,ffg ' Walker and Robert Green. The W , ,f 1 ' 5 ' Ax Wildcats had many back-up men who , contributed highly to their success 5 g if M with hard work, dedication and 1 , enthusiasm. Kirkland feels that his vi! team has fulfilled each of its goals with the exception of winning a state title. Pie Walker adds two more.
