To better understand how the modern world operates requires knowledge of many principles of past civilizations. By understanding the world in earlier times, it is easy to draw parallels in dealing with the problems of the day and the future. History is valid and impor- tant to everyone because it deals with the individual. Each person may interpret history and relate it to his own personal life in any way he wishes.
