'Our Town' is about today. No matter what our circumstances, all of us partici- pate in the human qualities portrayed in the daily lives of the characters. Well known for its rich view of life, the play has become one of the nation's favorite plays by a native American. ll -Director Keith Allen Our Town The Departments of Music, Speech, and Drama of Northwestern presented Thornton Wilder's Our Town on October 16, 17, and 18 during the Homecoming Week-end. Our Town was the first in a series of works by American playwrights presented at NW to celebrate the 1975-'76 bicentennial year. The setting of the play-a small town in New England immediately preceding World War I. The major characters-Emily Gibbs, portrayed by Diane Snyder, the stage mana- ger, portrayed by Tim Stall and George Gibbs, played by Brian Bronzynski. Other characters included Mrs. Gibbs, Pam Leslie, Dr. Gibbs, Tom Heimang Mrs. Webb, Marcia Moths, Mr. Webb, Valient Rensinkg Simon Stimpson, Earl Smith, and Suzie Cleveland as Rebecca Gibbs. 67
