Although studying was a big part of life at North¬ western, contrary to popular belief, students did do more than just study. Topping the list of spare time activities was spending time with friends and eating. Dynamic Decade The men ' s cross country team had its best year ever, winning the tenth straight conference championship and six out of seven top places in the conference. In national competition at Cedarville, Ohio, they won the Division It Champion¬ ship. Cary Brink, Wes Landfear, and Lyle Besemer won Division II All-American honors. In competition, they were consistently high in standings, defeating many tough opponents, and giving many others, in¬ cluding the University of Minnesota, a run for the medals. m 1.
