A Challenge The challenge was to determine our purpose in life— In decide whal we were trying to do. We were asked by this white-haired man with the long bony fingers to make becoming Christlike our goal. Unless we had heard him speak before, Dr. Boh Smith was not at all what we had ex¬ pected, Philosophy professors are sup¬ posed to be dry, humorless, super-in¬ tellectual and unexciting. As it turned out, our speaker for Spiritual Empha¬ sis Week was colorful, witty, smart but practical, and very animated. Most importantly, his love for Christ and warm heart showed in his concern for the students to make a serious com ¬ mitment to the One we call Lord. The emphasis on spiritual life makes us aware of our present relationship to Christ and the changes that we as in¬ dividuals have to make; perhaps a new dedication, a closer walk with God, or a heightened awareness of the needs of others. Everyday, I he student gives his box number, walks through those double white doors, and finds a place to sit. The organ prelude subsides, the audience quiets, a hymn number is announced, Anolher chapel service has begun. Some days chapel touches the hear!, challenging or blessing in a special way.
