True to the spirit of the day, everyone was anxiousto help in doing the necessary work. In the forenoon a large number of students were busy making preparations for dinner. Thee- tables in the dining hall were decorated with Howers and fruits, which helped to make this occasion a feast for the eye as well as for the palate. The people of the surrounding country, who had been invited to attend the afternoon and eve- ning programs, were present in large numbers. The usual meetings were held by the Christian Associations. I Monday, November 29. Hon. Halvor Steenerson visited the school and spoke to the student body this morning. Work on the toboggan slide was commenced today. The students were very anxious to assist, some by doing work and others by giving advice. Tuesday, November 30. Rev. Oaten, of Crookston, gave a very inspir- ing talk on Bubbles, Thursday, December 2. Professor Sanberg, of the Crookston High School, spoke at chapel this morning. - Andrew Landby spentthe afternoon riding a two-wheeled machine. -Power of locomotion was furnished alternately by a small motor mounted be- tween the two wheels of the conveyance and by the peddling motion of the rider's lower appendages. A debate was given in the auditorium between teams representing the Pioneer and Lincoln De- bating Clubs. The question for debate was Re- solved that the United States should double its army and navy during the next five yearsf, The affirmative was upheld by Herbert Anderson and l-lelge Krogseng., of-the Pioneer Club. The nega- tive was upheldby Peter Ness and Walter Peterson of the Lincoln Club.
