Cn the one hand, there has been the glow ot recollection ot past struggle, idealism, and achievement. On the other hand, there has been the gripping awareness ot our growing future. There seems little question that the next ten years will see as much advance in measurable things such as buildings, tinances, and enrollments as in the tirst titty years. When seen against the background ot universities more than a thousand years old, our halt century seems so very youthtulg and our eight hundred students seem so tew when contrasted with the thirty thousand ot a great university. Nevertheless, there can be no greater purpose than that represented in our motto, Seek ye first the Kingdom ot God. Moreover, on this campus man, made in the image ot God to tultill the will and pur- pose ot God, is ever and always the stan- dard ot value: in the sheer mass ot numbers this centrality ot persons may sometimes more easily be lost than in such a modest society as ours here. In such a time in such a place tor such a purpose, NNC strives to be what God wants her to be to serve our church and our age. l-lere at this halt century birthday, we re- dedicate ourselves to the primacy ot God's Kingdom and to the discipline and idealism it imposes. At the same time we pledge ourselves to the demands ot our day - sensitivity to the beauty and awe of the uni- verse and the best ot our culture: disciplined competence ot body, mind, and heart: com- mitment to the service ot all men within the will ot God. flmirmun of Board i f ' THE BOARD OF REGENTS The Board ot Regents is made up ot the president ot the college, elected represen- tatives ot the ten districts ot the Northwest Educational Zone. and a representative ot the alumni association. These men meet twice a year, in September and March, to devise ways and means to promote the pro- gram of the college. They discuss the ac- ademic and spiritual purposes of the school and prepare programs for carrying out its aims. This year the board approved plans made tor campus improvement and building expansion, notably the new science hall.
