nmmn mm[ This is the first 1 OWl:R in the start nt the second tifty years of service of the Northwest Missouri State College. During this year the enrollment has reached the highest number in the history of the college, but larger enrollments arc ahead. During this year plans have been developed for a building program that will materially change the appearance of the campus and add much needed housing and classroom facilities to the college. More buildings will be needed before the end of the first hundred years of service — additional housing, an arts building to house Music. Drama, Art and to add much to the growth and development of these areas of our culture, and a larger Union Building. Buildings are not enough 1 Additional faculty must be secured to carry on the traditions of the college and to maintain high levels of scholarship. I know of no profession where the need is greater for the days that lie ahead than that of college teaching. Gifted teachers inspire their students. During the first fifty years of this college ' s history we have had many such teachers. We must have many more — teachers who will inspire others to enter the profession in order that tomorrow ' s young men and young women shall have talented teachers: teachers who will lure to brighter worlds and lead the way as they teach the truth. AND THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE. J. W. Jones. President 13

OEM OF FACOLTY Many, il not most, seniors will be considering their next steji with several wish-I-had-donc qualifications. How docs one say meaningfully to the underclassman that now is not too soon to prepare for your retirement. Far distant. ' Yes. Indis- tinct. ' ' Yes. Real? Yes. if you can keep dodging the traffic. Education, as you are experiencing it. may seem somewhat nonessential, ambiguous, and apart from your chosen goals. But concern yourself well with that aspect of intelligence which in essence is the application of what you know and have ex- perienced: the successful ' solution of problems you will meet as you attempt an adequate adjusting to life. The foundation blocks of your adulthood have long been abuilding. Are they carefully fashioned from sound values such as cooperation, consideration, conviction, and contemplation, to mention a few? Today is the reality of yesterday ' s dream ol tomorrow. Charles E.
