ACTICDNS SPARK REACTICDNS When you only have five minutes to get to a class and the only chance to arrive on time is to park in a restricted zone, what do you do? You park in the place. Then the Northwest officials react by graciously awarding you with a parking ticket. Each and every time your actions cause tar- diness, a yellow slip will be placed under the windshield of your car. This is only one small illustration showing that from every action spawns a reaction. This process is often a simple, easily followed sequence: punch the ac- celerator in your car - your speed increases. The results are immediate- ly noticeable. Sometimes, however, the process is not quite as cut and dry: it may take weeks or even years for the outcome to be revealed. lf a student dedlcates hours to studying, he receives honors, and reaches his goal in life. The reaction is not ovemight, but definitely noticed. In every aspect of Northwest, the action-reaction principle' was in full swing. Our athletes spent countless hours practicing skills in order to have winning seasons. Because of cuts in funding from the state Legislature, the administration was forced to cut budgets and lay-off over fifty employees. Our instructors united in their efforts to promote the educational program, and Northwest gained recognition as a quality in- stitution of higher leaming. ' ' These examples of action-reaction influenced both students and facul- ty at Northwest. Throughout the year the majority of the actions led to positive reactions. 1
