It is our sincere hope Thai' you will recopiure the memories of your college experiences. Q: Imaam 3 W DEDICATION ,Th 5 4 -MEFF' Mr. and Mrs. M. L. BUrkS Twenty-three years ago, there came to Northwestern a man of rare ability and courage-one who never compromises with his sense of honor and integrity, who stands for those principles of truth which are innate in the mind of a great lover of science, and who is a sympathetic friend, a scholar and a gentleman. With him came his wife who has endeared herself to the students of North- west by her kindness, understanding, and genuine' interest in our problems. She is always ready to stop her work and offer a kind word or a guiding hand to those who need advice or encouragement. It is with pride and affection that we, the Staff, dedicate the 1960 Rocketeer to our Dean and Registrar, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus L. Burks. WWW sc. www TO THE ANNUAL STAFF Ladies and Gentlemen: As we review the events of the past, we can find many things that give us a great deal of satisfaction so far as accomplishments are concerned. We now enioy the largest enrollment in the history of Northwest, we have added more than one-half million dollars to the physical plant during the past six years, we are serving more people in the area of vocational education than ever before, and we are delighted to feel that we are receiving tremendous public support. These things are tangible evidence of growth, however, true growth is measured only through the development of the minds and bodies of young people. We s'incerely trust that our program is such that the moral and spiritual tone of the in- dividual might guide ancl direct him in the paths of public service and that our academic program will definitely prepare him to accept places of leadership. lt is most difficult to record the intangible by print or pictures, but I trust that the tan- gible evidence that is recorded by the Annual Staff this year might serve as a guide toward higher planes of living. May we ever stand united by working together toward the realization of our slogan, ONLY THE BEST FOR NORTHWEST. R. D. McLendon President As we arrive and get our first glimpse of N.W.J.C.
