Do you like to build paper airplanes, act in skits, write for comic strips, study classics, or build submersible ve- hicles? lf so, the Odyssey of the Mind competition is for YOU! All of the students in O.M. work on long-term team problems. They begin in the fall and their competitions are in the spring. Team members also compete in spontaneous problem solving. John Dillard demonstrates his unusual creative talent for his O.M. team. lRightl Mrs. Stella Harvey helps the Atlantis team with their submersible. fAbovel Northwest's O.M. teams have been very successful through the years. In 1983 the team placed third in the state. In 1984 one team placed first in the state and went on to win second in the world. In 1985 a first and in 1986 a third were earned in the state. Has O.M. gone to your head? tBelowl .Z ' ..,. ' , The Odyssey of the Mind group consists of seven teams. Members of the teams work throughout the year to solve their problems. Mrs. Harvey is a team coach and Ms. P. Morgan is the O,M. coordinator. Many parents and community leaders assist as team coaches. These coaches are Woody Forrest, Cindy Rogers, Chantal Patton, Terry Bridwell, Leonard Lee, Jo Guinn, Nancy Southerlin, Kathy Hill, and Lynn Smith.
