They practiced all year round, to successfully reach the goals they set for this season. One of the goals was to be first in the District B-5 and the Central Ten Conference. They were second in the B-5 and third in the Central Ten. Qualifying for the State meet in Kearney, made it the si.xth consecutive year the Harriers have gone to State. They placed seventh overall. Steve Lamb. Kurt Carpenter. Coach Hayes. Almost Perfect The freshmen football team had an excellent season. The dedicated players and the hard practices paid off to give them a 5-1 record. The first game was a loss to York, but the Vikings came back with a win against Aurora in double overtime. This set the mood for the rest of the season as the frosh suffered no more losses. The offensive yards totaled 1. 981 yards while the Viking defense held their opponents to 1,050 yards. The frosh had 376 tackles and 14 interceptions throughout the season. JV ' s, Frosh Mature The Junior Varsity basketball team ended their season with a record of nine nins and five losses. Coach Hook stated, This was the best group of sophomores I have ever worked with. He also said, They learned a lot this year, it will be more evident at the varsity level. The freshman basketball team after losing their first game to Barr came back to win their next game and from that point continued to improve.
