FTA, cadet teaching Guide vocation choice Several students at Northwest discovered that their interests lead to the field of education. Eager sen- iors found time in their schedules to enroll in Cadet teaching. In this class they were allowed to visit classes in local schoolrooms and help teachers and their pupils. Others, lacking schedule time, find that Future Teachers is an answer to their problem. All members in the club are interested in teaching secondary or elementary classes. During the year the club has been able to visit special schools for handi- capped and blind children. Beckham, B. Howard, Mrs. Loffland, C. Myers, S. Boles, H. Gulledge, C. Elliot, C. Keeley, L. Campbell. Vicki Bailey and Mr. Kramer discussed plans for future cadet teachers. Mr. Kramer was the cadet teacher sponsor. An afternoon tea was given in honor of students who were cadet teachers during the semester.

CUB CLUB-Carol Wroblowski, ludy Kemp, julie Polous, Beverly Dotlich, Susan Perry, Nancy Arbuckle, Barbara Dorn, Nancy Williams. Learning new concepts Activity for 3 clubs Pitting student minds against each other in battles of logic is the strategy of the Chess Club. The sixteen members of the club meet twice a month to play chess and discuss new strategy. Members of the Amateur Radio Club interest themselves in all phases of electronics and com- munications. Among their studies are Morse Code and electric circuits. Their main project is to begin a radio station at Northwest. Freshmen interested in Journalism can take ad- vantage of the Cub Club and learn proofreading, photography, and other aspects of journalism which help them in later journalism activities.
