Bailey. ffset press offers Newly styled Telstar Alternating Fridays were the deadlines for various reporters and editors of the Telstar and for each issue it seemed as though that day came faster and faster. Many new reporters for the paper found it necessary to familiarize themselves with a new vocabulary of such words as lead out, and beat assignment. For the first time, the school newspaper was print- ed within the school. The print shop burned photo- graph negatives onto a sensitized aluminum alloy plate and used this plate to print the paper. The bi- weekly publication kept everyone informed about the latest school news, sports, and social events. Alternal-ing editors of Telstar were jody Allemenos and Marilyn Off, both seniors. Each girl worked as editor for one semester. 48

Cheerleaders Lorrie Sands, Nancy lVlcFall, Linda Switzer, Sherri Leonard and Carol Beets lead the crowcl in a familiar routine. Senior Carol Beets radiates spirit with the actions of a well rehearsed cheer. Practice made perfection of favorite yells. Give me an Nl , yell cheerleaders Lorrie Sands, Nancy lVlcFall, and Sherri Leonard during the Sports Night basketball game. Looking at this year's dummy are co editors-in-chief of the Van- guard, seniors Dennis Harrold and Sandi Weaver. Vanguard summarizes Second year events Brains behind the scenes . . . Members of the publications department have worked since last May preparing the 1965 Vanguard. Co-editors Sandi Weaver and Dennis Harrold guided the staff in its effort to do a good job collecting pictures, captions, activities and headlines that were necessary for tl1e book. The staff was divided into several groups, each under an editor. Each editor, one each for pictures, copy, activities, faculty, sports, album-index, and patrons was responsible for seeing that his staff met all deadlines and turned in good work. Vanguard staff members, besides putting out the book, held several dances to raise money for expenses involved in publishing a yearbook. VANGUARD-FRONT ROW: N. Craig, E. Albro, S. Hague, D.
