As abilities increase Awards adorn David 'Wortman was a finalist for the Bausch- Lomb scholarship in science for Rochester Univer- sity in Rochester, New York. Eight seniors wrote research papers dealing with one of the social studies in competition for the 251000 and S500 Lilly Endow- ment scholarships offered to Northwest this year. The 33 members performed various other school services through- out the year. Sertoma contest winner lose Sanchez won a fifty dollar Savingsl Bond as his first place award over students in 3 other schools. David Workman, of the first graduating class, was a finalist in the Bausch-Lomb Science Competition for Rochester University. Katrina Shipley and Kathy Bartels were NHS' representatives to attend a high school meeting with past Governor Matthew Welsh. Outstanding citizen, joe Pearson, a junior and a varsity athlete, was the recipient of the DAR award for good sportsmanship. 37
