All tasks at hand will present a challenge to be accomplished. Each graduate represents a vol- ume of knowledge. Now your lives really begin. For twelve years you have worked, and at times you have toiled with your prob- lems, homework, andfriends. There was a period of time when you knew everything, but that period quickly passed away. Suddenly upon graduation everything was out of focus, the world was rushing toward you and you were frightened. Only then did you regret that you never accomplished quite what you should have. Northwest was a small light for you. Not until graduation did you realize the chal- lenges which had been offered to you. The light of Northwest reflected a path for you to follow. You rejected the reflection because it may have seemed unimportant to you at the time. As the light grew more fervently, you finally came to understand it. Now it was time to broaden that reflection. It was time to go forward to meet new challenges. Then you stopped to analyze your past. Did I waste twelve years? No, these years have not been wasted. Had they not taught you to think, to care, to love? These are the keys to life. The major step was learning to think. To be able to think, one must care. After you began to think and care, you discovered that you had learned to love. With your love for knowledge and mankind, you began to realize that your life had begun at Northwest. As we present this, your 1967 Nor'wester, our wish that you will find in its pages a record of your 1966-67 school year, accompanies it. The Nor'wester Staff sincerely hopes that this yearbook serves the purpose of catching and keeping a host of pleas- ant memories which you will cherish for years to come. He is head ofthe Department ol' Math and Chemistry, sponsor ofthe Slide Rule Club, and a senior class sponsor. He voluntar- ily gives so much of his time to all senior activities and to that of sponsoring the sen- ior trip. Everyone respects this teacher and looks to him for advice and help. He is never too busy to stop and talk with a student or to help the school in any way he can. In appreciation for such devoted service the Annual Staff proudly dedicates the 1967 Noriwester to Mr. L. D. Criswell. In Memoriam LESLIE CRITES August IO, I949 - March I3, 1967 Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning ofthe bar, When I put out to sea But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home. Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark, For though from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crossed the bar. l'Crossing the Barn by Alfred Lord Tennyson Cl, x Q f gh 'funny G- -Q...
