The Chieftain Staff takes great pride in dedicating this year’s book to The Canal Fulton Rotary Club. When the editors and advisor brainstormed on ideas for the dedication pages, we decided that it would have to be someone who supports both the school and the community. By a unanimous vote, we decided The Rotary Club fulfilled this idea. There are few organizations or individuals who can boast of giving 100 to the betterment of their schools and community like this club has always done. Among the many outstanding contributions they make are: 1. Sponsorship of the Honor’s Banquet 2. Donation of the annual Paul Swigart Scholarship 3. Sponsorship of exchange students 4. Organization and sponsorship of the fourth grade learn-to-swim program 5. Donation of two annual scholarships to deserving NHS seniors 6. Sponsorship of the teacher’s back-to-school breakfast During a very busy year in planning all of the above activities the Rotary still finds time to manage their booths at both Canal Days and The Yankee Peddler. Among the new faces and places at Northwest are: the ad- dition of 5 classrooms, the superinten- dent’s offices and many new students. We welcome the newcomers and the positive changes. Also, the victory bell, in honor of teacher Jack Garber, was dedicated this year.
