Student L Master Planning Carefully Charts Year's Success BY THE END of September, Knightland had settled into its familiar pattern of life. Rewarding, exciting new experiences were always lust around the corner. Few people realized the many details of planning which produced the high caliber of programs and activities traditional at Northwest. Who set up the risers for the chorus? Who ordered the cokes for the mixers? How did it happen that Knights accomplished so much with a minimum of confusion? Teamwork. Knights worked together beginning with Student Council, where the blueprints for extra- curricular life were drawn up. Courtesy and Key clubs ushered, directed. Pep Clubs applauded, sold programs, presented capers. Announcers Club in- formed over Central Sound. The band played, Cry- Slurs sang. Art students made posters, audio-visual aides tested mikes, the speech department built scenery, flipped switches. Over TOO people were involved in iust the plan- ning of PTSA Career Day. ln the end components assembled miraculously. Everyone worked conscientiously to fulfill his duty to COI'TtpleTe the careful chart of SUCCESS. All forty-nine clubs and organizations chose service proiects. The Hi-Y collected enough food to provide for a needy family almost a month, numerous groups sent carolers to homes and hospitals, Key Clubbers rang bells for the Salvation Army, and Red Cross enter- tained underprivileged children. The art department transformed the school into a winter wonderland glowing with Christmas spirit. Drama and music departments provided impressive programs, and Knights went home for the holidays with the blessed, warm feeling that comes from the unselfish, generous giving of oneself to others. None could forget, however, that finals were fast approaching, and students, hopeful of squeezing in some studying, carried home carloads of books. A SMALL ENSEMBLE of Cry-slurs entertains shoppers during the Christmas season
