Bixler is the Professor of Psychology, Counseling, and Christian Education. After being graduated from Northwest Christian College in 1937 he spent several years in seminary and graduate work. He is well known for his Christian Family Institute Sessions that he has led in many churches. When students were asked to describe Dr. Bixler, the response was intelligent, Christian, sincere, 4 compassionate, and dynamic. We congratulate this man, to whom the students of N. C. DOWDY-- President: Degrees: B.S.L. , Cincinnati Bible Seminary, 19383 B.D. , Butler University School of Religion 4Christian Theological Serninaryl , 1950, Ph.D. , Vanderbilt University, 1955, D. D. , Phillips University, 1967. Dean, Christian College of Georgia, 1956-65. President, Northwest Christian College, 1965. As I look back over the academic year, 1972-73, I see it as a year of great success in the work of Northwest Christian College. The success of the College depends upon a solid Board of Trustees, an Administration pressing toward the goal which the school has set for itself, a dedicated, well-prepared faculty desirous of furthering the achievement of those goals, a program that will accomplish the purpose, sufficient financial resources to underwrite continued operation, and a student body to make the effort meaningful. All of these are present at NCC. Probably the most striking factor in 1972-73 is the student body itself. During each of the three terms the enroll- ment has been the highest in the history of the school. The overall head count of students enrolled during the year f565J is the highest ever. But numbers alone do not tell the story. ln the last year or two, colleges have noted a distinct change in the type of student that was enrolling. The present generation of college students is more serious, more dedicated to education, and more religious than past generations have been. This change has been noted on most campuses, both public and private. Such a trend augurs well for the future of our country and for the increase of the Kingdom of God. I am equally sure that America is on the verge of one of its greatest religious revivals. Northwest Christian College can forge to the front in this upswing of Christianity by educating leadership for it. The question is not so much whether the rebirth will take place as it is the directions in which it will go. Our efforts at NCC are aimed toward leadership so that this movement back toward Christ and the church can be channeled in the direction of God's word and a solid, Biblically based Christian faith. 55wf!7 WILLIAM T SIEFKII Academlc Dean P1ofesso1 Chrlstlan Mlnlstrles De grees B A , Eugene Blble Un1vers1ty 1929 M A , Ph1l11pS Un1ve1s1ty 1931 B C , lbld 1932,D D , JHTVIS Chmst lan College, 1960 Gladuate study Eugene Blble Unlverslty, Umverslty o Oregon, 1930 Chxcago Lutheran Sennn ary Summer, 1949 Faculty, Northwest Chnstlan College, 1941 MARY E RIDENOUR HATLER Dean of Women Cert1f1cate Elementary Tea cher's Cert1f1cate, Northern Montana College, 1933 Addltxonal acadennc work Northern Montana College Eastern Montana College, Carroll Col lege, Oregon State Un1vers1ty, Easteln Waslnngton State College, Umverslty of Utah, Northwest Chnstxan College Motel Management C61't1f1C3t6 Natlonal Tra1n1ng Inst1tute of San Franc1sco 1969 Faculty Northwest Chrlstlan College, 1970 JOHNW BOOSINGER Regustrar Pro fessor Phllosophy Degrees B A Phllllps Umverslty 1940 M A 1b1d 1941 B D , 1b1d, 1944, D D , 1b1d, 1964 Cert1f1cate, Graduate School of Ecumemcal Stud1es, Geneva, Swztzerland 1959 Theolog1calL1cense Studles 111 Eculnemsm Unlverslty of Geneva, 1959 61 Faculty, Northwest Chr1st1an College 1954 4 1 4 gg . n , , : ' . , . We go in His nameg and because we believe, others will know that He lives. He forgave our sins in Jesus' name. We've been born again in Jesus' name. And in Jesus' name we come to you to spread His love as He told us to do. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. Isaiah 26:13. Then there's us . . . Chapman Hall. I'd like to tell you about the most dedi- cated, hard working group of guys at NCC, but instead I shall tell you of the men of Chapman. We contribute our fair share of noise pollution and receive our greenslips just as the other halls, but enough of generalizing. The main eiort made this year was for unity in the hall. We all felt the need and importance to get along with each other, and we made efforts toward that unity. An overnight retreat, to Little River Christian Camp, brought us all a little closer together. Chapman Hall, hopefully, will continue to grow closer together and obtain a little more of that Christian unity in the future. And Jesus wept. Although come from locations as far apart as Nigeria and Micronesia, with Iowa betwll and from theological leanings and backgrounds which are fairly diverse, we have learned to overlook our differences and look to the Lord for our unity. Through Jesus Christ we love one another. We owe Him all the many hours happy fellowship that we have had in studying the Word of God and in sharin and in prayers. We pray that this kind of love and oneness will be in our ho for all the years to come as well as in the houses of our brothers and sister O Q ChI'iSt. 8 I E sh And they devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and fellowship, to tha breaking of bread and the prayers. Who did?! Maybe it's Linda Albaugh or Nancy. How about Helen or Jan? I bet it's Marilyn, Kathy, or Laura. I thought it was Robyn, Kay or Marcia. No, they're gone with Waylighters. Anyway Robyn's already engaged. I know it's Linda Albritton, Cheryl, Pam, or Jo. You dumby, they're practicing for rally. Besides, Cheryl already passed her candle. Then it must have been Lois or Debbie. No, I think it was either Lori, Chellee or Sally. Sally only burns popcorn. Then it had to be either Vannessa or Debbie Maxzfield, except Debbie left after winter term and Vannessa passed her candle already too. Well who was it. Forget it girls, the dorm just burned down. This fire that we show in crazy ways has also mellowed into a deep warmth for others. We share this in one way through our service project with our brother hall, Chapman, at Emerald Nursing Home. We also pray that ourwarmth and love for Christ has been and will continue to be shared with everyone around us wherever we go. Rejoice in the Lord alwaysg again I will say, Rejoice. Let all men know your forbearance. The Lord is at hand. Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. We haven't known each other Very long, but we are able to share, because of the one uniting factor in our lives, which is Jesus Christ. The joy of the Lord is my strength. Neh. 8:10. Hoven House has not been promised with skies that are always blue, or with days that have no toil or temptation. But they have been promised an undying love! And through that undying love it sings, and plays football, and laughs, and cries, and then it shares that love with the kids at Skipworth, and with its sisters at Douglas, Rehm, and Hill, and finds that love even more in its mom. Hoven House is a bunch of guys all doing the work of Christ and finding that un- dying love in all that they do. Our activities exhibit these as we spend time in study hall, do exercises in the hall, and have hour long devotions. We share our enthusiasm with our brothers at House Parties. Excess energy is often released in tubbings, etc. Our main is to serve Jesus Christ, who gave everything for us. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pastures. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving and, into his courts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His name. For the Lord is goodg his mercy is everlasting: and His truth endureth to all generations. Psalms 100. Woodyard Hall, home of the Maud Squad, has been blessed with a mighty love for the Lord. From sharing with our sister Moonbeams-in-service projects and devotions, to hosting a Christmas Party for underprivileged children, we grew closer to the Lord. Led by our President, Ken Marsh, V. P. Nick Nott, and Sec. -Treas. Charlie Kamilos, we did something. We shared the Monkey Division Award, for the out- standing accomplishment. Frank Loyd led us in a rich year of devotions. Though we may never meet again, our brotherhood will last a life time. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:6. With our theme for this year's Crusader as the Fruit of the Spirit, many of the pictures have emphasized the second fruit: J OY4-JOY OF THE LORD. It is our belief that being joyful is an important fruit of the Spirit. There may have been times when there was little to be joyful about, but we know that God does not allow anything to happen to us that cannot be used for His glory. It is our hope that you, the students of NCC, have experienced the spiritual growth that accompanies joy. Neither be ye sorry, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
